It's her first R/T fic, but the characterisations are good, it's very sweet and nicely written. A lighthearted story that leaves you with a smile.

I did this to see if I could gain any inspiration the wizardised carol in my Advent fic. Needless to say, it wasn't much help. But it did give me a laugh and a flimsy excuse to delay writing a bit of the fic that is giving me bother. I'm hoping to have the first draft finished today. But since I'm still not sure how it's going to end, I skipped a scene and I'm still contemplating adding an extra scene after the opening, it's not looking likely. How are the rest of you doing?

I have a very high ceiling in my flat. Fifteen feet. The light bulb dangles from a five inch flex. I can't help but think that the landlords didn't think this through properly. The bulb went pop about an hour ago. Will have to wait til Monday to call the office and probably wait til Tuesday for someone to come and sort it out.

ETA: LJ alerts seem to have died completely, is it just me or is anyone else not getting alerts at all?

ETA 2: I did it! I've just finished the first draft, and I'm ridiculously happy about it. It came in at just over 7500 words, and I think I'll be knocking on the door of 8000 by the time it's tweaked. I even got my carol all sorted! Can go to bed happy now.

I've made a lot of progress today with my

metamorfic_moon jumble piece. I suspect I've just done something very, very wrong though, so you will all have to forgive me. ;) I keep shaking my head at myself - and giggling to myself.

The CV is coming on nicely, it's making me feel alot better about things to see everything on paper. Thank you so much to all of you who offered kind comments on Friday.

I did this before using Tonks as my favourite character, then realised that as much as I love Tonks, really, Remus has to top the list, so I did it again.

This is a general call for help. I'm driving myself up the wall because I can remember neither the title nor the author of a book that I wanted to add to my list for the book meme. I'll post the meme without the name of this book but knowing the title would be a salve for my sanity.

So, the book was published about 18-24 months ago. It had a green cover with the image of a lake on it. It was about a teenage girl who lived in Canada around 1900. She came from a very poor family and her mother had died. She went to work in a hotel where she discovered a letter that led her to investigate the death of a young woman in the lake in the hotel grounds. She desperately wanted to attend college in New York(?) she gained a place but initially had to turn it down in the face of her father's demands that she stay and look after her siblings.

Any one know it?

ETA: I remembered! After two days of racking my brains the title of the book came to me during a jaunt up to Somerfield: A Gathering Light, Jennifer Donnelly

Shitty old day today, by the time 8pm came along I was so fed up with work phone calls that I changed my Skype status to Do Not Disturb and turned my mobile off. Hiring people is not fun. Dealing with smarmy, jumped up recruitment agents is not fun. I'm in a grump and that's not fun either.

On a brighter note, I ordered Mum a laptop today so that we can keep in touch by email and Skype and when I see a dress I really like I can show her what it looks like on a web site! I'm very excited about this, I shall have to go down there in 7-10 days and show her how to switch it on ;) She's never really used a computer before and certainly never browsed the internet so it should be interesting! I'm going to set everyone in my family up with an LJ, including an RL one for me, so that we can all share stuff that we find and tell each other about what we're up to. She's quite excited about that.

On a truly bright note, the sun actually shined for over an hour today. Since most of the South of the country got slapped with a drought order a couple of weeks ago, all it's done is rain! Still we're forcast to be back on track tomorrow and it will raineth once more.
