So the ex turned up on Thursday and chaos has reigned ever since!
I exaggerate a little but he hasn't changed a bit and as good as it is to see him, I'm glad he's only staying with me for a few days. He'd barely been here for 5 minutes when (without meaning to) he started taking over. I say 'hang up your coat' he thinks I'm being polite and says 'oh no, it's ok here' and hangs it on the back of a chair. And I'm thinking - no I want you to hang it up! He managed half an hour before the DVDs came out and he started handing them to me to put on and an hour before he grabbed my laptop and started playing his rap music on it.
He hasn't changed a bit just as I had suspected which is comforting in someways and disturbing in others - given that he is now 30 and still the concept of responsibility passes him by while he remains in a blissful state of near ignorance! It's endearing in someways but I know from experience that that soon passes to be replaced by total and complete exasperation.
He has a childlike excitement for the smallest of pleasures so I am entertaining him this afternoon by taking him to Regents Park to see the herons and then to Pizza Hut for dinner.
Currently I am sitting on my bed with my laptop and he is sitting at my desk using my desk top and every now and again he calls something to my attention, I pretend to listen and then we both turn back to what we were doing. It's so reminiscent of the last year of our relationship, no physical contact, his trying to get me excited about silly things he finds on the internet and periodic conversations about our mutual love for certain commedians, Kevin Smith movies, Friends and the cafe down the road!
We watched 2 Carl Barren DVDs on Thursday night, man he's a funny guy. I've only ever heard his stuff on CD before but you couldn't even begin to grasp the full extent of his talents unless you could see him. The energy he puts into his facial expressions and movements is astounding and his talents as a mimic are incredible.
