A stage production of Dirty Dancing is coming to the West End in October. HOW did I not know this before now? I'm all squeeful! Strangely enough a month later Patrick Swayse is coming to the West End stage, unfortunately not to reprise his role, but in Guys and Dolls, might be the time for me to finally get around to seeing it;)

I think I know what was with all the cops yesterday. There was apparently, compelling intelligence that a terror attempt was imminent, they arrested the dudes this morning.

Well summer arrived today, about bloody time. The boys and I (M and my CEO) had our usual pub lunch but sat in the garden, which was very pleasant. That's all I have to say about that.

I bought the Evening Standard today which I do but rarely because they may be standard by name but they certainly don't keep to high ones any more. Their quote of the week made me giggle though. Our esteemed mayor, Mr. Livingstone; Ken, who since being elected has hidden his policy of steadily inflating public transport fares behind a facade of environmental concern, apparently said, "If you have spent all your life growing up in England the idea of global warming sounds quite attractive". Whilst this is true, it must be filed away in the 'Running Your Mouth Without Thought' section of the 'Verbal Political Blunders' archive, perhaps not quite as bad as his infamous Concentration Camp remark, but a bit stupid all the same. Incidentally, if you had spent the last 7 months in England you would be a firm supporter of the term 'Climate Change' over 'Global Warming', for warm up, it didn't, we loose again.

I have been invited to a party tomorrow night. The girl who lives in the flat half a flight of stairs down from me is having a big bunch of friends over. I really want to go, but I won’t know any one apart from her and I’m afraid of being a wall flower. On the other hand she is the friendly type so perhaps her chums will be too.  She has a wicked terrace that looks over the muse and can accommodate about thirty people. I might go for half an hour.

I haven't seen a play in ages. Do you live close to the theater district?

I hate that we have to worry about terrorist attacks. I used to travel back and forth to NY for work and I admit that it made me nervous (not that it would stop me from going to NY.)

I've been thinking that I might try writing a fic. I don't think it will be Harry Potter though. I'm not sure I could make it sound authentic enough.

I hope you have a nice weekend.

I live about 15 minutes walk from the theatre district, (or a 45 minute bus journey;))

I grew up with the threat of terror attacks, as I said yesterday in a comment, my school was even evacuated once, and I was never allowed in town on my own incase there was a scare.

Oh, you should so write a fic, what kinda thing do you want to write? You really should try, and then practice, it makes a bit difference. I'd be more than happy to look stuff for you if you want.

You have a great weekend too!

If I get up my nerve I'll take you up on that. I can always tell when an American writes Harry Potter fic.

Okay, everything is in the right order now! LOL

Last post I promise.

I think you even mentioned that you can tell when a fic is written by someone who is not British. I agree with you.

You can tell, but that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy fics that are obviously written by an American. I just have a particular respect for people who can write with a tone a foreign language, including colloquisims and native turns of phrase.]

PS. My LJ is open and I mind not about the number of or changes of comments, so edit away!

I encourage you to just write something, when I first started writing fan fic I hadn't written any fiction since I left school. I don't hold my own skill in much stead, but I do know that I have improved immensely.

I only read R/T and even in that relatively small portion of fandom there is a lot of bad fic. But, I think that the reason for that is largely that as the fandom has grown we are seeing a lot of the younger members post fic. And while I respect their writing talents, they don't have the eye or the experience to portray an accurate adult relationship and so fail on the realism points.

I would like you to try, I will help you where I can, if you want it.

Yes, I agree with you.

I'll give it a try. :)

Please do.

Writing is such a cathartic experience. I'm always here if you want honest and real help/concrit.

15 minute walk? That's great! You'll have to see those plays then.

Oh yes, I try to make the most of living where I do. I don't mind going to the theatre alone if I can't find some one to go with me. You tend to get upgrades if you go alone too, a bonus!
