godricgal: (Me in Brissy)
In the wake of the success of our last London walk, my old mate Jo and I decided to make it a monthly thing and pick an area to explore each month. This month we chose Primrose Hill and Camden Town.

Once again we started at my place and walked through Regent's Park and into Primrose Hill. The view from the top of the hill is quite amazing, you can see from Battersea Powerstation all the way to Canary Wharf and has a wicked view of St. Pauls. We had a quick squiz at the shops in the area but that was enough to convince us that Primrose Hill doesn't quite fit into our budgets! Although Jo did buy a ladybird ring for £1!

Then we walked down into Camden and had us a little lunch.

We got to the markets and both of us nearly died! We wanted to buy everything, each polka dot top was nicer than the next! We looked over most of the stalls in 3 markets and came very quickly that we must return with cash lined pockets (quite how we are to line our pocket is yet to be decided). I did buy a funky pair of purple and black striped knee length socks and an even funkier bag that is made up entirely of a zip and you can unzip it so that it is just one long zip! The dude gave us a discount and promised another discount when we go back next time - so zipper purse for me!

We walked back along the Grand Union canal which was very pleasant passed through Maida Vale and Little Venice. We earmarked a pub for a visit one summer afternoon and saw some flats that definitely warrant price investigation.

By the time we made it to the rear entrance of Padd Station we both had body parts screaming at us to sit down, which we did as we waited for Jo's train and which we regretted when the time came to stand again! By the time I reached my front door (which is admittedly only a 1/4 of a mile) I had slowed my pace so much that I had practically stopped.

I reckon that minus the walking through the market and the detour up Primrose Hill and around the shops there we walked about 8 miles add that to the 6 or 7 yesterday and I think I can say that I've had a fairly energetic weekend, I shall be glad to go back to work tomorrow and spend the week sitting in a chair!
