Frozen peas.
Is it too much to ask to be able to buy frozen peas after 4pm on a Sunday? Halfway to Somerfield I realised that it was going to be shut because it's a Sunday and the UK has loony Sunday trading laws. I carried on anyway and ended up in a local chain shop which did indeed have a freezer but instead of simple things like frozen peas had mixed frozen peppers and spinach. Feeling slightly aggrieved, I bought a bottle of wine and left dejected, thinking that my meal would be sadly lacking this evening. I did actually find frozen peas in one of the arab shops and actually felt quite accomplished....but that's not the point, why was it so difficult?
CDRWs
A couple of weeks ago I wanted a CDRW, I had CDRs but I didn't want to waste them. So I toddled off to the WHSmiths in the station on a quest. They didn't have any. They did however have:
Floppy Disks...
in bright pink, bright green, sky blue, orange.....I mean.....do people actually buy them? Do people even use FDs any more, much less want to exercise a choice in colour when buying them in a train station??? They must sell some but I bet they'd sell more CDRWs;)
Desks
When I moved into this flat, my Dad drove me up in my car with all my stuff, I didn't bring my desk because I need it when I go home occasionally and I don't really like it anyway. So he dropped me off and unloaded my stuff and went off to Argos to buy the desk that I'd picked out. That particular branch of Argos only deliver. So he started heading west....and ended up in HILLINGDON (my home town:)) stopping at every DIY shop on the way. And seriously if you can pass Hayes and not find a DIY shop that doesn't have what you want then something is seriously wrong. I didn't get a desk that day....I had to have it delivered from Argos a week later.
Ground white pepper
I complained so much about not being able to buy ground white pepper that I got some for Christmas! The Sainsbury's in the station does not sell ground white pepper, but they do sell DVD players...go figure!
Whole black pepper corns
See above
***stops rant***
I could of course just start shopping in Harrods, but the idea of walking all across Hyde Park with shopping bags just doesn't appeal some how.
